arrived to the C.W. Post campus where our tour was starting, I got out of the van and commented that it was cold. It was cold. I was cold. My fellow riders were cold, and I started wondering why I signed up for this. I was wishing that I had brought full fingered gloves and a wool hat, not the baseball cap and summer gloves that I was wearing. To stave off my chill I did a few stretches, had a running man contest with Candice and hopped around just to keep moving until our group was ready to ride. One thing I noticed during all these shenanigans was that, as always, Pearl Izumi's gear is comfortable. The MicroSensor Jersey was soft against my skin, not the typical itchy feel of wicking clothing. The seams were sewn flat, so there was nothing poking me or chaffing thus far. As for the Gavia Jacket, the inside is fleece lined and super soft. When I took the jacket out of the packaging for the first time I made a mental note on how soft the outside was.

You can tell Pearl Izumi didn't skimp on materials, this is high quality stuff. I was also happy to see that Pearl Izumi incorporated the protective zipper flap, which keeps the zipper tab tamed and not sticking up into your chin.

proving just how warm the gear will keep you. At this point I was also able to judge the wicking ability of the material and it gets the thumbs up. Although I was perspiring a little at this time the jacket/jersey combo kept me feeling dry and comfortable.
Pearl Izumi does bike gear right. Although it can be a little on the pricey side, you truly get what you pay for... a well constructed, comfortable product that will keep you happy in the saddle for hours. |
