Rudy Project has made a habit of coming up with new and innovative products. Their Syluro glasses are no exception. In a market full of bluetooth headphone shades that have built-in windshield wipers, highly fashionable "dude" styling and more bells and whistles then a swiss army knife, the Syluros seem pleasantly simple. Simplistic in an almost retro kind of way, they display reserved styling, adjustable fit, a waifish weight and great optics.

Lenses: I've come across quite a few pairs of glasses in my time. Some have good optics, some have not-so-good optics. Rudy happens to excel in this particular area. Rudy's optics are never in question. They are universally excellent. The polycarbonate and polyurethane optical polymer lenses are shatter-resistant, UV protective and the later of which is even bulletproof. (Editor's note: If you get shot in the eye, you are going to have problems no matter what glasses you are wearing, so don't go tackling any gunmen thinking you are invincible while wearing your Rudy's) Aside from that, they've got a myriad of lens options including, different colors, tints, photochromics and polarized. The Syluro lenses are full cut to a shape that has great coverage from the eyebrow right on down to the cheek. This offers great protection from debris, insects, wind, hail, etc. etc. These shades hold windows of the quality you've come to expect from Rudy.

Frames: The Syluros look like a departure from Rudy's Kalyos model, interbred with the Kerosene frame. A light weight frame secures the lenses by a minimal contact area near the center of the frame. This leaves the lens swooping out with no frame below, to the outside and not much above it. The trouble with the Kalyos is that this reduced frame lacked structural integrity. The Syluro improves upon this with a very sturdy frame that doesn't gain any bulk over the other somewhat flimsier frame. Also improved on the Syluro, Rudy has added back in their adjustable temples. The end result is a rugged, minimal frame, that's fit-centric and that doesn't have any blind spots around the lenses.

Style: The style of these glass could best be described as quietly cool. The most stylish elements of the glasses actually help the glasses not get noticed. They are elegantly functional where all points of style actually accommodate some form of performance. The almost free standing lenses serve to enhance the anti-fogging attributes of the glasses, by allowing heat behind the glass to vent before steaming up the lenses. Perfect for hard rides, with less radical styling, the Syluros are the humble workhorse of sunglasses.
