If you have ever heard the world silenced by the thumping of your pulse in your ears, if you have ever enjoyed breathing so hard you thought your lungs would shred, if you ever got off your bike wobbly legged and drenched in sweat, you belong here!
If you can still remember your first time out with your baggy sweatshirt and sneakers on your hybrid as you stood intimidated by those spandexed "Pros" with the clickey shoes and weird gloves, yeah you belong here too!
If you are thinking about rejoining your youthful memories, of spring and summer cruising on your Schwinn with all the world passing under your tires in shades of blue and green, you also belong here!
If you ride for a cause, or just...because, you belong here!
We welcome you!
Pedal Pushers Online has had a great year. But, in spite of our growth PPO remains committed to the same principles upon which Pedal Pushers was founded. The love of riding and the love of helping others to love it too! We remain committed to novice riders while providing content for advanced riders as well. But stated even more simply than that we are committed to making riding safer, more fun, and friendlier and to encompass riders of all levels and purposes.
To that end...Our ride categories are broken down as follows:
Grab that sweatshirt and the hybrid for...
Our Friendship Rides - which are for all levels of riders but designed particularly to accommodate the unique needs of first time riders and are paced accordingly.
Maybe grab the clicky shoes and the 10 speed for...
Our BBC rides (Before Breakfast Club) - designated training rides for riders seeking to grow in their sport. Monday and Friday mornings are hammer down days, Wednesdays we take it a little easier.
Spandex or sweatshirts, or maybe even shredder shorts and body armor...
Our Weekend Rides are special events and are published with degree of difficulty in plain English. They are generally purpose driven rides with a special destination or product review in mind. These rides are your opportunity to become a "Staff Reviewer." Sign up for one near you soon! We offer these in both Road and Dirt varieties!
Beyond our riding schedule we also reach out to the community at large through the following activities:
If you ride for a cause...
We also support various Charity Rides by running training rides specifically designed for the unique needs of multi-day bicycle events. Your PPO leaders are members of the New York Training Ride Leaders Group and as such we take an active part in their activities. Additionally, many of our members take part in charity and fundraising rides in support of worthy causes. Did you know that we offer online pages to members to assist them in their fund raising efforts? You need only ask!
But because we ride...
PPO serves as an online advocate for safer community cycling by educating drivers and cyclists and by reaching out politically through advocacy groups and editorial content. PPO is a member of the
League of American Bicyclists,
Transportation Alternatives, and
CLIMB. Additionally, we provide information on products and riding techniques that are effective in contributing to a safer cycling environment. We support your riding needs through our articles on training, skills, techniques, and nutrition.
