18 essential tools to keep you rolling in one very little, convenient package. The Mini 18 will literally fit in the palm of your hand so, it gets high marks on the cool factor. With this item Topeak has built a solidly constructed, easy to stow and highly functional tool. The great thing about the Mini 18 is that there is no sacrifice in the tool offerings to achieve the small size. It gives you everything you'll need on the road for just about any emergency. The only thing this puppy won't give you is a fresh pair of legs to run down a breakaway but, that's your problem!

I carry the Mini 18 in my seat wedge under my saddle, and since I lean towards minimalism in what I carry for riding, it's the smallest seat wedge I could find. I carry only things that are absolutely essential. There will always be a multi-tool, some cable ties, a knife and maybe a mini glueless patch kit. In the past I carried the Topeak Hummer, which has been a great tool in its own right (and now lives with my MTB) but now, when I toss the Mini 18 in there it almost gets lost. I never would have described my seat wedge as voluminous until this diminutive tool resided there.

The Topeak Mini 18

Ok so, the thing is unquestionably small but how does it perform? Thus far, I have managed more then a few roadside tweaks, adjustments and repairs with no problems. The little bugger is well designed and easy to use, its compact size will allow you to get into some tight areas. The clean simple build and light "chassis" make it fairly fumble free. Occasionally, I would like to use a slightly longer wrench or driver, but for the road the Mini is totally fine. The tools are all decently stout as to provide enough strength to be able to apply some torque where necessary.

All in all, The Mini 18 is a fantastic tool. Very functional, lightweight, and handy. If you are an avid rider, you'll use every tool it has and most likely it will bail you out of some sticky situations.
