Did I mention Dave from The Peloton? He was one of the Bike Techs on the last AIDS Ride I did, 2005 Braking the Cycle? Anyway I was riding some very tired Michelin Axial Carbons and we both agreed that it was time for some new skins. Up at Pedrosfest Dan and I had spent some time with the Kenda rep and decided it was time to try out some Kenda Product, so when Dave suggested the
I readily agreed and we swapped out the Michelins.
I was immediately impressed with the comfort level of the Koncepts. I rode these about 125 miles and I have encountered no difficulties. Their rolling resistance is minimal, yet they have a compliance that yields the ride I mentioned above. Traction is good in pretty much any surface I have encountered so far, this includes, macadam, recently oiled gravel, compacted loose gravel, mud over concrete, and lastly concrete itself.
They are 110 lb tires and I ride them there. There is a minor tread impressed into the tire, but it does not inhibit roll. This is a road tire and not one of their racing line. The Koncept rubber was specially designed for traction, rolling ease, and ride comfort. Dave also assures me that these are really really puncture proof. We will see!
My initial reaction is very good I rate these at least 8.5, we need another 3 months before I can really raise the rating based upon puncture resistance! We will see what we will see!
