Some years ago I had the opportunity to test out a Selle Italia Fokus saddle. I mounted it on my Cannondale R700 to ride the test and quite frankly I never had any reason to remove it. That was until this spring when I mounted the SLR TI Selle sent us in for review. I mounted the saddle and promptly forgot that it was there!
What does this mean? It means that this saddle is performing perfectly! I look at my activities on my bike as organic. The more the bike and the equipment get out of the way, the better I believe that they are performing. Cycling equipment and apparel should combine to render the rider feeling as though they are moving naked through air... quickly!
The fact that the SLR TI worked so well at not being noticed, speaks directly to that belief. This saddle is WAY light enough, but durable and obviously comfortable. I swapped out the old and eyeballed my new into the seat post and I haven't touched or thought about it since. That is until this review. When was the last time you made a change of equipment and didn't have to tweak it?
I guess it'll be another year or two before I swap out saddles....
