 
Angel SmithGary: How many times is this for you at Pedrosfest? Angel: This is my fifth, I was at the Vermont Pedrosfest. Gary: The first one? Angel: I don't know if it was the first or second, but yeah, it was great! Gary: I'm not sure, but I guess that makes you kind of hard core Mountain Biker then? Angel: Fairly, yes! Gary: But you've got more the build of a roadie though? Angel: Do I? I don't have a road bike though, this is it! Gary: You're riding a Cannondale then, a hard tail? Angel: Yes Gary: What kind of riding do you do? Angel: I do a lot of commuting and some single track behind my house, and definitely here. And I go to the Jim Thorpe Festival in Pennsylvania. I usually do that every year, but not this year because I don' think they had it. Gary: And where do you ride, where's home? Angel: Altamont, New York, just outside of Albany. Gary: You were out on a Cannondale? Angel: I was out on a Rush, it was a custom bike, it was like one of the owner's wife's. It was a very nice ride! It was a full suspension, it was sweet. Gary: You gonna change? Angel: No! I like the hard tail and climbing hills. I like to push but, then there is the lockout. Gary: How would you like to define your experience here at Pedrosfest as a five year recidivist? Angel: Awesome, It's a lot of fun, there's a lot of commeraderie. You get to push your self and follow the next rider who's always better, and you get to become better and get over stuff that you don't normally ride in at home. Gary: You said you tanked this morning and yet you're so clean, what happened? Angel: I know, I was in the field, and I just did a wheelie and I cranked it.  Willy, Mike and Mark Gary: Willy, Mike and Mark you guys look like MTB riders, is that an accurate description? Willy: Yeah well I try and go roadie sometimes too. Gary: You do? Yeah, well, show me your road rash... Willy: Well, I don't have any road rash. Gary & Mike and Mark: Yeah sure, yeah right, your not a roadie (guffaws- and laughter) Gary: So you guys were picking up the bikes and taking a critical look at 'em what's that all about? Mike: Well my bike's getting pretty worn out so I figured I'd come here and demo a few and see what's out there. Gary: So you're looking at a Titus? Mike: Yeah Racer X, it's light lighter than my bike. Gary: Well, what do you think of those nice buttery welds, you like 'em like that or smooth? Mike: Nah I like 'em like that nice an rough. Gary: Mark you're on another Titus? Mark: Yep, I'm about to try it, I wanted to try out a Titus and grip shifters anyway. I wanted to get a new bike next year so, I wanted to move more toward racing... Gary: Willy, you're on a Van Dessel? Willy: Yeah I just wanted to find out what the 29er craze was about. Gary: Have you tried it? Willy: Yeah, I tried one last year. This one has American Classic wheels, nice, light. That's everybody's complaint about 29ers that they're too heavy. Gary: So, are you guys regulars? All: Yeah, it's what our fourth or fifth year, I can't remember. Gary: What do you guys do? All: We're aircraft mechanics for Gulf Stream Aerospace. Gary: I guess you know how to turn a wrench? All: Laughter and agreement Gary: Do you guys race or are you recreational? Willy: Mostly rec, but these guys just started racing. Gary: How'd you do? Mike: I Beat the last guy! |
