The Santini CX Bib tights afford the wearer a tremendous amount of comfort. As a shorter rider, most regular shorts are cut too long for my torso. This means that I either have to roll down the waist or it will roll down naturally during the course of a ride. Having the extra elastic material at the waist puts extra pressure on your stomach and bladder, this can be very uncomfortable. But with the bibs the straps hold the short in place and the waist doesn't need to have elastic. This lends to an extreme gain in comfort.
The Santini CX material has the proper elasticity to hold muscles firmly to prevent injury while not trapping in heat. The material keeps you mostly dry by pulling moisture away from the skin, wicking could improve slightly. Once you begin to perspire the CX material actually becomes a second skin. It moves with your body and transfers moisture as if it were your own epidermis.
At first impression the chamois of the CX Bibs seems too thin or not cushiony enough but as you ride further there is a general feeling of comfort and support. The CX chamois is probably better suited to riders with more time in the saddle. Riders of the more casual variety might find it to be too "firm". The chamois is composed of varying thickness layers of high and low density synthetic foams and micropile. The "Top" chamois is micropierced for aeration and topped with antibacterial protection for comfort and skin protection. The result is a breathable non-chafing interface between your derriere and the saddle.
Over all the Santini CX's do an excellent job of protecting your sensitive areas and keeps you in the saddle.
