You want to hang at Pedrosfest, but you don't really want to get all dirty and sweaty, or if you do, you really need a hot tub to soak away the stains and pain.
Or, let's say you are a techy geek, and you need to upload all the photos you took of your knarly moves or heinous crashes, and while they upload, you want be soaking those sore joints in either a bath tub or better yet, a hot tub near the pool.
Now maybe, and just possibly, you are truly a hard core dirt pile x-sport rider, but your wife thinks that at 54 it might possibly be time to grow-up, and her idea of fun is not standing in a dust cloud watching you risk your life and her financial future.
We have the answer! The Crowne Plaza!
Located a mere 6 miles away from Pedrosfest, the Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield, Mass. is surrounded by The Shaker Museum, The Pittsfield Historical Museum, quaint shops and bazaars, plenty to do to distract a traveling companion who is not into seeing you face plant with regularity. This is also a decent alternative for the grandparents who are treating the grandchild to a few days of dirt fun.
The folks at Crowne Plaza were more than happy to have our bikes taken up to the room, but they were also ready to check them for us if we preferred. In other words they were eminently bike friendly, and better still the beds were wonderful!
And if you don't want your friends to think you are a weenie who's gone too soft to "rough it", just brag about how your broadband connection was faster than a unicycle riding mtb'er hitting the ground. Crowne Plaza's pipe is fat enough to squeeze tons of high-res images up onto the web so all your buddies back home can be jealous of your broken body armour and mud caked Ellsworth.
After all that pedaling feed your face at Dewey's. Located inside the heart of Crowne Plaza, this pub's menu is simple but tasty and the staff is as friendly as can be. If you're fiending for some grub that's going get you off the ground to do wheelies for miles, grab the "Dewey Burger". Garnished with lettuce, tomato and topped with bacon, cheese, garlic, onions and mushrooms it's not light but it is delicious and cooked perfectly to order. So, ask for the Dewey and get a Spaten from the tap to wash it down.
The tiered garage provided both ample parking and good downhilling practice I am certain that the hotel management would not condone this, but I happen to know that some rad bikers actually used the garage as a downhill road course, but we won't talk about that!
Hey if you want to do Pedros, and you don't feel inclined to sleep in a tent, this is a terrific alternative. If you intend to spend some time perfecting your freeride or skiing Jiminy Peak or Brodie, Crowne Plaza offers a relaxed, comfortable hospice.
